DaBaby aka Baby Jesus is an American rapper from Charlotte, North Carolina. His outstanding singles include “Light Show”, “First Day Out” and “Above The Rim”, including Money Man. He keeps releasing new projects and is known for his “Baby Talk” mixtape series. His real name is Jonathan Kirk, born on December 22, 1991 in Cleveland, Ohio. At the age of 6, he moved and settled in Charlotte, North Carolina. He grew up on rugged streets and often broke the law. Over the years, Baby has achieved good results. He was arrested on various occasions, from driving with a revoked driver’s license to illegal possession of marijuana. His sole purpose in entering the music industry is to help people. Baby wants a way to touch and influence people’s lives, and see music as the answer. In December 2014, he began to rap seriously. He defended himself against an armed robber. After the case was closed, DaBaby was sentenced to one year of unsupervised probation.
On January 23, 2019, DaBaby announced the formal signing of an agreement with Interscope Records. He is also a signatory of the South Coast Music Group and agreed to sign a joint contract with the two record companies. On March 1, 2019, DaBaby released his first major record label, Baby on Baby. The 13 track projects released under Interscope Records include Offset, Rich Homie Quan, Stunna 4 Vegas and Rich The Kid.
Since the beginning of 2019, DaBaby has been dominating hip-hop music with a series of hits. “Suge” is his hottest single so far, and has released amazing numbers. The “Track Master”, launched in March 2019, has been played more than 450 million times in just 7 months. He co-produced “Cash Shit” with Megan Thee Stallion, and co-produced “Baby” with quality control and Lil Baby. On October 7, 2019, Billboard announced that DaBaby’s latest album “Kirk” won first place on the Billboard 200 chart. A major achievement, it became the rapper’s first top album. Most, if not all, of the album’s tracks are ranked on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. DaBaby also won the Best Hip Hop Newcomer Award in the 2019 BET Awards.
