Colin Jost was born on June 29, 1982 in Staten Island, New York City, New York. His father was a teacher at Staten Island Technical High School, and his mother was the chief medical officer of the New York City Fire Department. He and his brother grew up in the Roman Catholic faith and lived near Grimes Mountain on Staten Island. His brother also works in comedy. Casey Jost appeared in the 2015 comedy movie “Summer in Staten Island” written and starred by his brother. He was the screenwriter of the TV show “Unrealistic Joker”. He attended Regis High School and was admitted to Harvard University. While at Harvard, he wrote for the student-run comedy publication Harvard Satire.
Early career
During his time at Harvard, Yost appeared on the NBC TV game show “The Weakest Link”. He won a high prize of US$5,250 on the show. After graduating from Harvard, Yost found a job as a reporter and editor for the “Staten Island Advance” daily newspaper. Subsequently, he participated in the production of the Nickelodeon TV series “Kappa Mikey”, which was produced by Larry Schwarz and aired from 2006 to 2008.
