Princess Ciara Harris is an American R&B singer, songwriter, actress and dancer. She was born on October 25, 1985, in Austin, Texas, to parents Jackie and Carlton Harris. The only child of military parents, Ciara traveled the world growing up. The family eventually settled in Atlanta, Georgia, where she attended Riverdale High School.

Ciara started out as a member of the girl group Hearsay. The combination was short-lived, and she later secured a publishing deal as a songwriter. Her first hit was “Got Me Waiting” by R&B singer Fantasia Barrino. Ciara befriends record producer Jazze Pha, who helps her sign a record deal with LaFace Records. Her debut studio album, Goodies, was released on September 28, 2004, with the singles “Goodies”, “1, 2 Step” and “Oh”. The album reached #3 on the Billboard 200 and is certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA. Ciara’s second album, Ciara: The Evolution, was released in 2006. She won her first Grammy Award for Best Short Music Video in 2006 for Missy Elliott’s single “Lose Control”.
As an actress, Ciara made her debut as “Becca Watley” in the 2006 sports drama film All You’ve got. She then starred in the movie “Mom, I Want to Sing!” , “That’s My Boy” and the TV show “The Game.” She has also done photo shoots and commercials for the modeling agency Wilhelmina Models.
