Christian Coleman is an American professional sprinter and Olympian. He mainly competes in the 60m, 100m and 200m sprints. He competed in competitions such as the 2017 World Championships and the 2016 Olympics. Coleman was born on March 6, 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia. His parents are Dr. Seth and Daphne Coleman. He has two sisters, Camryn and Cailyn. Coleman attended Notre Dame Catholic High School, followed by the University of Tennessee. He majored in sports management.

Coleman began his track and field career at Our Lady of Mercy. He won individual events in the 100m, 200m and long jump. He led the 4×100-meter team to victory in the state championship. He was named the nation’s best player for his performance in the 100m at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals. He also served as a defensive back and wide receiver for Our Lady of Mercy. Coleman graduated in 2014 and Mercy Track named it the “Christian Coleman Champions Award” in his honor. He is the recipient of the Fred R. Langley Athletic Scholarship Fund. Coleman continued his track career with the Tennessee Volunteers. He won the 60m and 200m at the 2017 NCAA Indoor Championships. His career personal bests were 60m 6.45s, 100m 9.82s and 200m 19.85s. Coleman won a bronze medal at the 2015 Pan American Youth Games in Edmonton. In 2016, he won gold at the NACAC Under-23 Championships in San Salvador as a member of the 4x100m relay team.

Coleman turned pro in June 2016. He qualified in the 100m and 200m at the 2016 Olympic Trials. At the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, he competed in the 100 meters and finished 6th. He ran the second round for Team USA in the 4x100m relay qualifier. Team USA was disqualified in the final due to an illegal baton pass between Justin Gatlin and Mike Rodgers. Coleman won a silver medal in the 100m sprint at the 2017 World Championships in London. The first was Justin Gatlin and the third was Usain Bolt. He was also a 2017 Bowerman finalist.
