Chris Mazdzer is an American bobsled athlete and Olympian. He won the silver medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. He became the first American man to win a medal in a men’s single sleigh race. Mazze was selected to the All-Star lineup for the 26th season of Dancing with the Stars. The show will premiere on ABC on April 30, 2018. Mazze was born on June 26, 1988 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. His father Edward is a neurologist and his mother Marty is an office manager. He has two siblings, Sarah and Kate. Mazze grew up in Saranac Lake, New York. He attended the National Sports Institute (New York) and DeVry University (Illinois). He majored in business administration and finance.

Mazdzer started sledding at the age of 8. He started his training at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid. He has also tried cliff jumping, lacrosse and football. Mazdzer started participating in competitions in the early 2000s. He has been trained under the guidance of coaches such as Bill Tavares, Miro Zayongk, Bent Walden and Lubomir Mick. Mazze won a total of 10 individual World Cup medals. His Olympic debut was at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. He won the 13th place. His second participation in the Winter Olympics was in Sochi, Russia in 2014. Mazdzer finished third at the 2013 British Columbia FIL World Bobsleigh Championships. He participated in the Luge World Cup Men’s Singles (2015-16) and finished fourth.

Mazdzer’s third Olympic trip has achieved fruitful results. He won the silver medal in the men’s single sled race. He made history along the way, becoming the first American male athlete to win a medal in this event. He plans to participate in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. Mazdzer is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Luge Federation. He is also an athlete mentor for the non-profit organization “Classroom Champion”.

In 2018, Mazze appeared on the TV shows “Meghan Kelly Today” and “Good Morning America.” Next, he was selected as a contestant for the 26th season of ABC Dance with the Stars. He partnered with professional Latin/ballroom dancer Witney Carson. Other athlete contestants on the show include Mirai Nagasu, Arike Ogunbowale and Jennie Finch.
