Chris Christie is an American politician, lawyer and member of the Republican Party. He served as the 55th Governor of New Jersey. Christie was born on September 6, 1962 in Newark, New Jersey, her former name is Christopher James Christie. His mother Sandra is a telephone receptionist, and his father Bill is a CPA. He has two siblings, Todd and Dawn. Christie grew up in Livingston, where he attended Livingston High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Delaware in 1984. Christie completed her PhD in Law at Seton Hall University School of Law in 1987. Before entering politics, Christie worked at the law firm “Dughi, Hewit & Palatucci” in Cranford, New Jersey. He served as a partner from 1987 to 1993. He was appointed as a partner in 1993 and held that position until 2001. Christie served as a member of the Morris County Selected Permanent Holders Committee from January 1995 to January 1998. He was appointed by George W. Bush served as the U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey in 2002. He held this position until December 2008.
Christie defeated the current Democrat Jon Korzin to become the 55th governor of New Jersey. He entered the office under oath in January 2010. Christie re-elected for a second term in 2013. In June 2015, he announced his bid for the Republican presidential nomination for the 2016 presidential election. Christie withdrew from the political campaign in February 2016. He later supported Donald Trump. Christie was initially appointed as the head of Trump’s transition planning team, but this task was handed over to Vice President-elect Mike Pence.
