Chris attended Middletown High School, where he was a star in football and basketball. He was heavily recruited and selected to attend Ohio State. A wide receiver, Carter was an All-American in 1986. He was named to the Ohio State Football Centennial Team and inducted into the Ohio State O Hall of Fame. Carter was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round of the 1987 NFL supplemental draft. He played for the Eagles from 1987 to 1989 before being announced by the Minnesota Vikings, who played for the Minnesota Vikings from 1990 to 2001. Carter ended his career with the Miami Dolphins in 2002. During his NFL career, Carter was named to the Pro Bowl eight times.
