Chinx Drugz is an American rapper and member of the hip-hop group Coke Boys. He was born Lionel Pickens on December 4, 1983 in Queens, New York. Chinx grew up in Far Rockaway, where he struggled quite a bit. He uses music as a vehicle to express his experiences and ambitions.
Profession
Chinx started rapping with his close friend Stack Bundles in high school. The two formed the “Riot Squad” group and worked together for several years. Chinx’s career came to an end after being held in a correctional facility from 2005 to 2008. After his release, he was introduced to rapper French Montana, with whom he formed the band Coke Boys. Chinx’s debut mixtape, Hurry Up & Die Vol.1, was released in April 2009. He launched Vol.2 in January 2010 and Vol.3 three months later.
Chinx continued his success with the “Cocaine Riot” and “Coke Boys” mixtape series. He gained momentum on the 2012 single “I’m A Coke Boy” and the 2013 EP “I’ll Take It from Here”. He has also collaborated with artists such as Juicy J, Rick Ross, Ace Hood and Puff Daddy. Chinx’s debut studio album Welcome to JFK was released posthumously on August 14, 2015. The album peaked at number 21 on the Billboard 200 and featured the single “On Your Body”. His second posthumous work, Legends Never Die, is scheduled to be released in July 2016.
