Charlie Rose is an American journalist, talk show host and TV producer. He hosted the PBS interview show “Charlie Rose” and served as a reporter for 60 Minutes II. His television works include CBS This Morning, CBS Evening News and Person to Person. He has guest appearances in films such as “The Original Colors” (1998) and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (2016). Rose was born on January 5, 1942 in Henderson, North Carolina, under the original name of Charles Pete Rose Jr. His parents Margaret and Charles Sr. grow tobacco and run a country shop. Rose attended Henderson High School, where he played basketball. He received a bachelor’s degree in history from Duke University in 1964 and a Juris Doctor degree from Duke University School of Law in 1968. He is also pursuing postgraduate courses at the New York University School of Business.

In the early 1970s, Ross worked briefly at Bankers Trust of New York. His first reporting job was WPIX-TV in New York in 1972. In 1974, he was hired as the executive editor of the Bill Moyes International Report. In 1975, his position was promoted to executive producer of Bill Moyes magazine. His interview with Jimmy Carter in 1976 won him a Peabody Award. Rose joined NBC News in 1976 as a political reporter. During his tenure, he hosted a number of interview shows. Rose served as the night anchor of CBS News from 1984 to 1990. In 1987, he won an Emmy Award for interviewing Charles Manson.
Rose’s interview show of the same name “Charlie Rose” premiered on WNET on September 30, 1991. From 1993 to 2017, it was united nationwide on PBS. Over the years, his guest hosts have included Eric Kandel, Judd Apato and Seth Meyers. Rose served as a reporter for 60 Minutes II from 1999 to 2005. Became a 60-minute part-time journalist in 2008. In 2015, he won the Walter Cronkite (Walter Cronkite) Outstanding Journalism Award. Rose guest starred in the following movies: Primary Colors (1998) and John Travolta, Elegy (2008) and Penelope Cruz, and The Ides of March (2011) and Ryan Gosling.
