Charles McCord is an American news anchor and radio personality who has a net worth of $5 million. Charles McCord earned his net worth on the long-running morning radio show Imus. McCord worked alongside Don Eames for three years as his right-hand man.
Born in Joplin, Missouri in 1943, his long and successful career took place in the New York metropolitan area. He started his broadcasting career in 1963 at a small radio station called KICK in Springfield, Missouri. Next, he moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth subway complex at the now-defunct WFAA station. He then came from WTOP Radio in Washington, D.C., and finally landed in New York on WNBC in the early 1970s. His position at WNBC was newsreader and assistant to Don Imus on the Monitor weekend show. Both Imus and McCord were retained in 1988 after WNBC went off the air and signed with WFAN. After Imus left, McCord continued to work as a news anchor at WFAN for several months. Then, after Imus’s contract with WFAN settled at the end of August, after 30 years of broadcasting on 660 kHz in New York, McCord left WFAN. He returned to radio on December 3, 2007, reuniting with Imus in the morning revival. His responsibilities include writing news stories and comedy material for celebrity impersonators Larry Kenny and Rob Bartlett. McCord retired on May 6, 2011.
