Charlie Wrangell Net Worth: Charlie Wrangell is an American politician who has a net worth of $2.5 million. Charlie Rangel was born in New York City, NY and grew up with her mother and grandmother. He was an excellent student as a child, but dropped out of school to work when he was a teenager.
He eventually joined the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. After his troops found themselves under heavy artillery fire and trapped, he led a team of 40 soldiers over a mountain safety zone, albeit badly wounded to a 1st Class. After recuperating in South Korea, he returned to the front line. In 1952, he was honorably discharged from the army and received the rank of sergeant. He went on to graduate from New York University and then earned a law degree from St. John’s University. After practicing in New York throughout the early ’60s, he entered politics and began to rise through the political ranks of New York State. In 1971, he was elected US Representative for New York’s 13th congressional district, and has served in that capacity ever since. He is currently the third longest serving member of the House of Representatives. He was also a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus and the first African American to chair the House Ways and Means Committee.
