Chance The Rapper is an American rapper, singer and songwriter from Chicago, Illinois. His completed projects include Acid Rap (2013), Coloring Book (2016) and Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama (2016) with Jeremih. He won three Grammy Awards in February 2017 for “Best New Artist”, “Best Rap Album” and “Best Rap Performance”. Other accolades include 2 BET Awards, 2 Teen Choice Awards and an NAACP Image Award. Besides music, Chance also has some experience as an actor. He played “Dax Lekander” in the horror-comedy (2018). He has also appeared on shows like Black Dynamite, Saturday Night Live and Wild ‘N Out.
He was born on April 16, 1993 in Chicago, Illinois, as Prime Minister Bennett. His parents, Lisa and Ken Bennett, supported his decision to become a rapper. He has a younger brother named Taylor. Chance spent his childhood near West Chatham. He attended Jones College Preparatory High School, where he participated in various talent shows. He re-created the joint mixtape Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama (2016) with Jeremih. Chance appeared on DJ Khaled’s single “I’m the One” on the album Grateful (2017) and “No Brainer” on Father Asahd (2018). Both songs reached the top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. Chance’s 2018 singles include “I Might Need Security”, “Work Out”, “65th & Ingleside” and “Wala Cam” starring Supa Bwe. He is reportedly working on his debut studio album.
Chance has appeared on The Eric Andre Show, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Saturday Night Live, among others. In 2014, he voiced the character “Bob Marley” for the animated TV series Black Dynamite. He played “Victor” in the short film “Mr. Happy” (2015). In horror-comedy (2018), Chance is against Zazie Beetz. Directed by Austin Wesley, the film features Y’lan Noel and Hannibal Buress in supporting roles. Chance will voice in the upcoming animated film Trolls World Tour (2020).
