Born in Martin, Tennessee in 1976, Jeffrey Chad Clifton was a top offensive tackle near the end of his high school career in Tennessee. He played college football locally at the University of Tennessee.
Clifton wore the red shirt as a freshman before becoming a mainstay on the team’s offensive line. He was a two-time All-SEC honoree and was a one-time All-American for “Sports News.” The Green Bay Packers selected Clifton with the 44th overall pick in the second round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He quickly became the team’s starting left tackle and was considered one of the best players in the business. In 2008, Clifton was named to his first Pro Bowl. He was the 2010 NFC Champion and a member of the Super Bowl XLV winning team. After the team won the championship, he signed a three-year, $20 million contract with the team. He continued to play on the offensive line until he failed a medical and was released in the spring of 2012. Clifton started 159 of his 164 career games and has been a free agent since his release from the Packers.
