Delgado was born on June 25, 1972 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, and began playing minor league baseball as a child. He made his Major League Baseball debut with the Toronto Blue Jays on October 1, 1993, and went on to play for the Florida Marlins and the New York Mets.
