Karamo Brown is an American TV presenter, writer and LBGTQ activist based in Coral Springs, Florida. He is in “Real World: Philadelphia”, “Where is the Bear!” “And “You Are the Only Person: A Second Chance” and other shows played important roles. Currently, he is a cultural and lifestyle expert on the Netflix series Queer Eye. Brown has guest-hosted Dr. Drew On Call, The Young Turks, HuffPost Live and Access Hollywood Live. Because of his contribution to the LGBTQ community, he won the Human Rights Movement Awareness Award in 2018.
Brown was born on November 2, 1980 in Houston, Texas, the youngest of four children. He grew up in Coral Springs, Florida, where he attended Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. The mass shooting at his school in February 2018 prompted him to join the Never Again MSD movement. Brown completed an undergraduate degree in business administration at Florida A&M University. Before fully immersing himself in the entertainment industry, he worked as a social worker for several years.

In 2004, Brown made his debut in the MTV reality show “Real World: Philadelphia”. His time on the show is important because he is the first publicly gay African American on a reality show. Brown is a participant in the Real World/Rules of the Road Challenge: Hell II (2005). He has served as a team member/correspondent in 4 episodes of the talk show Bethenny (2012-13). He has repeatedly played the role of “Ronnie Bishop/Reporter” in the web series “Where is the Bear” (2013-14).
Brown served as a special host and correspondent in episode 54 of HLN’s Dr. Drew On Call (2014-16). He has hosted multiple episodes of HuffPost Live, Access Hollywood Live and Are You the One: Second Chances. Brown joined the main cast of Netflix’s “Queer Eye” in 2018. The show was created by David Collins and co-stars Anthony Porovsky, Tan France, Bobby Burke and Jonathan Van Niss. His film works include the documentary Visible: The LGBTQ Caribbean Diaspora (2017) and the comedy film The Princess Diaries (2001). Brown returned to TV as a contestant of ABC Dance with the Stars in September 2019. He partnered with Latin/Dance Hall expert Jenna Johnson.
