Buju Banton is the host of Jamaican Ballroom/Reggae Music. His records include Voice of Jamaica (1993),’Til Shiloh (1995), Unchained Spirit (2000) and Friends for Life (2003). He won a Grammy Award for his albums Rasta Got Soul (2009) and Before the Dawn (2010). As for cooperation, he has worked with Stephen Marley, Busta Rhymes, Trey Songz and others. Bandon was negatively criticized for supporting the song “Boom Bye Bye” for violence against homosexuals. In 2011, he was convicted of drug offences and sentenced to 10 years in prison. Bandon’s next complete project “Til Shiloh” was launched in July 1995. Thanks to his newly discovered Rastafari faith, this marked a turning point in his career. The album is ranked No. 2 on the Top Reggae charts and No. 148 on the Billboard 200. It was supported by the singles “Champion” and “Untold Stories”. Irish musician Sinead O’Connor released the cover of “Untold Stories” on her album Throw Down Your Arms (2005). Banton’s follow-up albums include Inna Heights (1997), Unchained Spirit (2000), Friends for Life (2003), Too Bad (2006) and Rasta Got Soul (2009). The latter won the 2009 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album. Banton’s 2007 single “Driver A” caused some sensation, ranking 75th on the Top R&B charts. His latest album “Before Dawn” was released by VP Records in 2010. This won him the second Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.
