Brad Richards was born in Port Murray, Prince Edward Island, Canada in May 1980. Brad plays for the Notre Dame Hounds in the SJHL and the Rimouski Oceanic in the QMJHL.
He was selected 64th overall by the Tampa Bay Chargers in the 1998 NHL draft. During the 2004-05 NHL lockout, Richards played in the Russian Premier League for Ak Bars Kazan. In 2006, he signed a five-year, $39 million contract with the Chargers. In 2008, Richards was traded to the Dallas Stars. In 2011, he signed a nine-year, $58.5 million contract with the New York Rangers as a free agent. He was bought out by the Rangers in 2014 and signed a one-year deal worth $2 million with the Chicago Blackhawks.
