Boosie Badazz is an American rapper, songwriter and music producer. He was formerly known as Lil Boosie. His records include Youngest of da Camp (2000), Superbad: The Return of Boosie Bad Azz (2009) and Touch Down 2 Cause Hell (2015). From 2009 to 2014, he was imprisoned on drug charges. Lil Boosie was born on November 14, 1982 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, formerly known as Torrence Hatch Jr.. His mother Jacqueline is a retired teacher. His father died in 1997. He has a brother named Tian Guali. Boosie attended McKinley High School and was expelled. According to reports, he completed the GED certificate in 2013.

Boosie started his hip-hop career under the guidance of Young Bleed and C-Loc. At the age of 14, he joined a collective “concentration camp”. He was the youngest member at the time. Boosie’s first studio album Youngest of da Camp was released by Camp Life Entertainment in January 2000. It was produced by Happy Perez, Russ Lee and C-Loc. His second album For My Thugz (2002) was released by Trill Entertainment. It features guest vocals from Pimp C and Webbie. So far, the album has sold approximately 90,000 copies. Lil Boosie signed his first major record label agreement with Warner Bros. Records in January 2005. His third album, Bad Azz, was released in October 2006. The album sold 41,000 copies in the first week. It gave birth to the Billboard Hot 100 single “Zoom” featuring Yung Joc. Other releases of Warner Bros. Records include Superbad: The Return of Boosie Bad Azz (2009) and Incarcerated (2010). Boosie’s top chart single “Wipe Me Down” was released as part of the compilation, Trill Entertainment Presents: Survival of the Fittest (2007). It is ranked 38th on the Billboard Top 100 Singles Chart and 4th on the Top Rap Songs Chart. Boosie founded her own record company “Bad Azz Entertainment” in 2009. The label was renamed “Bad Azz Music Syndicate” in 2015.
Boosie was sentenced to 8 years in prison in Louisiana State Prison in 2009 on drug-related charges. He was acquitted of first-degree murder in March 2012. He was released from prison early in March 2014. Lil Boosie adopted a new stage name “Boosie Badazz” a few months after his release. He also announced a recording contract with Atlantic Records. Boosie made her debut in the Atlantic Ocean with the single “Show Da World” by Webbie and Kiara. He gave up the free mixtape Life After Deathrow in October 2014. In May 2015, he released his sixth album Touch Down 2 Cause Hell. Guest artists include Rich Homie Quan, Young Thug, Chris Brown and Rick Ross. His upcoming projects include BooPac (2017) and Boosie Badazz: Bigger and Badder Than (2018).
