Bob Harper is an American personal trainer, TV personality and writer. He became famous as a fitness coach in the reality show “The Biggest Loser.” Robert “Bob” Harper was born on August 18, 1965 in Nashville, Tennessee. He studied at Austin Pey State University, but never completed his degree.

Profession
Harper became a certified fitness trainer and moved to Los Angeles in the early 1990s. He is certified by the American Track and Field Fitness Training (AFTA) and the American Aerobic Fitness Association (AFAA). Over the years, he has attracted celebrity clients such as Jennifer Jason Lee, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Ben Stiller.

Harper made his debut in NBC’s The Biggest Loser in October 2004. He coached the “blue team” but eventually lost to Jillian Michaels and the red team. The show revolved around obese contestants competing for cash based on who lost the most weight. Harper became the new host of The Biggest Loser in September 2015. The former host is actress and reality star Alison Sweeney. Harper has appeared on shows such as Rachel Ray, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Larry King Live. He is a consultant for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s new celebrity apprentice.

Harper’s first book, are you ready! : Responsibility, weight loss, body shaping and change, published in 2008. His other publications include Rules for Weight Loss (2012), Getting Started to Lose Weight Quickly (2013) and Slimming Meals (2014)). He also released exercise DVDs and a series of nutritional supplements.
