He is known for hosting the NBC Sports TV series Bill Dance Outdoors and the Outdoor Channel TV series Bill Dance Saltwater.
Dance competed in bass, and his TV series aired in 1968 on an ABC affiliate in Memphis, Tennessee. After Bill received his first Tennessee hat from team coach Doug Dickey, his signature look was wearing sunglasses and a Tennessee Volunteers baseball cap. Dance is also known for his shows on YouTube. He co-founded Th3 Legends with Roland Martin and Jimmy Houston. Dans is a member of the International Game Fish Association Hall of Fame and was inducted into the National Freshwater Hall of Fame in 1986. He was the recipient of the Congressional National Water Safety Award in 1978 and the BASS Angler of the Year award three times. Dance has won 23 National Bass Fishing Championships and 7 BASS Championships.
