She is best known as the first Mexican actress to star on Broadway and one of the youngest actresses to play Rosie Hart in a Broadway show in Chicago.
During her formative years, she studied ballet, jazz, flamenco and tap dancing at the Bellas Art Institute. After graduating from St. Joseph’s College in high school, Marroquin returned to Monterrey, Mexico, to study Communication Studies. Her theatrical career began as an actress in the Mexico City production of Beauty and the Beast. She went on to star in Mexican Broadway productions such as Rent (1999-2001), The Phantom of the Opera and Chicago. She then returned to Mexico City to join the cast of “Vagina Monologues” (produced in Mexico). She also played Maria in the Mexican production The Sound of Music and appeared on several Mexican television shows during this time. In 2010, she returned to television for four consecutive years as a judge for Mira Quien Baila (Spanish version of Dancing with the Stars). In November 2012, she played Mary Poppins in the first Spanish production of the Disney musical. Bianca Marroquin is a judge for this season of the reality show Bailando por un Sueño on Univision. On March 31, 2014, she reprised her starring role as Roxy Hart in the Broadway hit “Chicago.” That same month, Marroquin was named Viva Broadway’s first national ambassador. The Broadway Producers League has created a new audience development program to help connect the Broadway world with Latino audiences across the country. Marroquin’s debut solo album El Mundo Era Mio (The World Was Mine) was released on May 13, 2014. Marroquin co-wrote five songs on the 11-track album, which has been described as a healthy splash of contemporary pop with Latin influences.
