Melrose began his hockey career with the Kamloops Chiefs in 1974. He was selected with the 36th overall pick in the 1976 NHL draft and has played for the Cincinnati Spurs, Winnipeg Jets, Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings during his career.
