Barbara Piaseca Johnson Net Worth: Barbara Piaseca Johnson is a Polish-born American heiress, art expert and collector who has a net worth of $4 billion. Born Barbara “Basia” Piasecka in Poland on April 25, 1937, she graduated from the University of Wroclaw with a master’s degree in art history and left Poland shortly after with $100.
Barbara was originally hired as a chef by Esther Underwood Johnson, then the wife of Johnson & Johnson heir J. Seward Jonson, and Barbara performed poorly in that position, so she changed several jobs as a domestic maid. When she gave her professional opinion on how Seward paid a premium for one of his paintings, he was shocked to find her knowledgeable in art and appointed her as a consultant on the purchase of art. Later, they fell in love, and by 1971, Johnson had divorced his wife and married Piaseca. After 12 years of marriage, Johnson’s death made Piaseca the main beneficiary of his will, leaving her with a fortune, including 18 million shares in Johnson & Johnson. Johnson’s six children were left out of their father’s will on the grounds that their father was not mentally competent when he signed the will. The case continued, but they settled and the children got about 12 percent of the property, leaving Piaseca in control of most of the assets. She then converted the family property called Jasna Polana into a country club and moved to Monaco. Piasecka was particularly interested in the Baroque and was a well-known art and antique collector. She died on April 1, 2013 in Sobotka and was buried in Wroclaw.
