Baltimore native Bandhunta Izzy (formerly Lor Izzy) is an up-and-coming American rapper. His music drew elements from the rehearsal scenes in Chicago and his own experience of traveling through the streets of Baltimore. Izzy signed with the Republican band and is famous for songs such as “Gummo Freestyle”, “My Mind”, “BBB” and the 50 Cent style single “How to Rob”. His breakthrough mixing tape Code Blue came out in early 2018. The second tape, That’s Pretty Gangsta, was released in October 2019. He has collaborated many times with Key Glock, YFN Lucci and Peewee Longway.
Izzy was born on December 30, 1996 in Baltimore, Maryland, under the original name Israel James. He grew up with two siblings in West Forest Park in Baltimore. His brother Jugg is a recording artist. They share the name “Bandhunta” and the two have collaborated on songs such as “Bandhuntas”. Growing up, Izzy experienced firsthand the rough side of Baltimore. His father left the family before he was 15 years old. Izzy tried to solve the problem by turning to drug dealing and street violence. Early in his career, Israel performed under the nickname “Lor Izzy”. He has released several songs with his brother Jugg, including “Bandhuntas” and “Bandhuntas Pt. 2” in 2016. Izzy’s second mixtape Code Blue was released in January 2018. The project was released by Republic/Universal and led by the single “In Love Wit da Trap” (produced by CM$). The tape contains guest verses from Peewee Longway (“Running Man”), Key Glock (“Boomin”), Young Crazy (“FoReal”), YBG Sleezy (“Murda Music”) and Bandhunta Jugg (“Bacc and Forth”) In the first half of 2018, Izzy released the hit songs “Poppin Sh!t” and “I Run It” (G Herbo “Who Run It” Remix), both of which were produced by PyrexTurnMeUp. Next, he appeared in the single “Cake” in Blackway’s EP Good.Bad.Faded (2018) and “Type of N!gga” in Only One Felipe’s tape The Only One 2 (2018).
In 2018, Izzy also opened for Ski Mask the Slump God as part of the “Ski Meets World Tour”. His third mixtape That’s Pretty Gangsta premiered in October 2019. It collaborated with YFN Lucci in the song “Have It All”. The track list includes “Watchin Me”, “Gott’em Mad” and “How to Rob”. The latter was inspired by 50 Cent’s 1999 song from the same list. It received an Instagram co-signature from 50 Cent himself (“I like this, they are here.”). The visual effect of “How to Rob” has been viewed more than 40,000 times on YouTube. It is directed by Six7 and features reviews from The Mad Rapper.
