Brandon Cole Margera was born on September 28, 1979 in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He is Jess Magra’s brother and Vincent Magra’s nephew. He got the nickname “Bam Bam” from his grandfather because of his habit of hitting walls on purpose as a child. Eventually, the nickname was shortened to “Bam” by his classmates. He attended West Chester East High School, dropping out after his junior year. He later worked to get his GED.

Margera began his professional skateboarding career in 1997 and 1998, when he was sponsored by Toy Machine Skateboards. He joined Element Skateboards’ demo team, Team Element, in 2001, although by 2016 he was no longer part of the team. At various times, he has also received sponsorships from brands such as Speed Metal Bearings, Adio Footwear, Electric Sunglasses, Volcom, Landspeed Wheels, Destroyer Trucks, Destructo Trucks and Fairman’s Skateshop. As of 2017, Margera has actually retired from skateboarding without any major sponsorship, although he still skates casually.
Film and television business
What started out as Margera filming himself and friends skating and doing stunts eventually turned into his independently released CKY video series. The characters in these early videos formed a loose group known as the CKY Crew. Ryan Dunn, Brandon DiCamillo, Rake Yohn, Chris Raab and Brandon Novak are all CKY crew members.

In January 2004, Bam purchased a 14-acre property in West Chester, Pennsylvania for $1.195 million. Over time, he developed the property into what is now known as “Castle Bam”.
