social glove fiasco
In June 2020, Austin hosted an event called “The Social Glove: Battle of the Platforms,” which pitted YouTube and TikTok celebrities in a boxing match. The event is organized by Austin-based company Simply Greatness Productions LLC. The campaign hopes to generate 2.2 million pay-per-view purchases. The campaign attracted just 136,000 PPV purchases, according to a lawsuit filed months later. The lack of interest in PPV has sparked a series of lawsuits from performers and production companies involved in the event. At one point, Austin’s company reportedly considered filing for bankruptcy and sued one of the marketing firms for failing to market the event properly. A marketing company called LiveXLive is suing McBroom’s company for $100 million. Two performers sued claiming they were owed about $2.7 million for their boxing services.
Brooklyn Nets star James Harden and rapper Lil Baby are both allegedly seeking millions of dollars owed, according to several reports, including another from the New York Post and Billboard.
real estate
In May 2019, Austin and Katherine purchased a mid-construction property in Woodland Hills, California for $10.6 million. They put down about $1 million and raised about $9 million, according to real estate records. Their monthly mortgage bill hits $70,000. This will require approximately $1.7 million in pre-tax income per year to provide the service.
At the time of purchase, the property had two unfinished mansions. The couple continued to complete the construction, which cost millions of dollars in additional. The final product features a half basketball court, mini court and infinity pools that wrap around the sides of the property.
In an interview with the Daily Mail in December 2019, Catherine claimed the family were the victims of a “dishonest contractor” who allegedly used fake licenses to win business and then never completed it project, resulting in them not actually living in the house without the required proof of occupancy. The family moved into the house anyway because their lease on the former mansion had expired. While they lived at home, there was no gas, which meant they had no hot water or heating for more than two years. They can’t even do laundry.
In September 2019, they filmed a tour of the mansion for their YouTube channel:

On July 7, 2021, Dirt.com reported that McBrooms had stopped paying for its mansion in early 2021, which it said had entered foreclosure. A week later, the home sold on MLS for $10 million.
