Austan Goolsbee Net Worth: Austan Goolsbee is an American economist who has a net worth of $5 million. He was born on August 18, 1969 in Waco, Texas, but grew up in Whittier, California. Austan Goolsbee is probably best known as the chairman of Barack Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers. Goolsby is the youngest member of President Obama’s cabinet.
He succeeded Christina Romer as Board Chair in September 2010. He also served as an adviser during Obama’s 2004 Senate campaign and as a senior economic adviser during the 2008 presidential election. On June 6, 2011, he resigned and returned to teaching at the University of Chicago. Goolsbee is currently the Robert P. Gwinn Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He attended Milton College, followed by BA and MA in Economics from Yale University. Then, he received his Ph.D. Ph.D. in Economics from MIT. He was an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow from 2000 to 2002 and a Fulbright Scholar from 2006 to 2007. While at Yale, Austan was a member of the Yale Political Union and the Yale Debate Society. He married Robin Winters, former business development director of MTV International, on November 1, 1997. They have two sons and a daughter. During his career in Washington, he built a reputation for himself as a prankster. He was even named “Washington’s Funniest Celebrity” in 2009.
