Arnold Palmer (Arnold Palmer) is an American professional golfer. He is known as the “King” and is considered one of the greatest golfers of all time. He has won 7 Grand Slam titles: 4 Masters, 2 British Open and US Open. Palmer was born on September 10, 1929 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, to Doris and Milfred. He has three siblings, Lois, Sandra and Jerry. Palmer attended Latrobe High School and then Wake Forest University. He also served in the US Coast Guard for three years.

Palmer’s father taught him the ins and outs of golf. He won two intercollegiate championships and won a golf scholarship from Wake Forest University. Palmer won multiple Atlantic Coast Conference championships, but decided to drop out of school in 1950 after the death of his friend. In 1954, he recovered and won the American Amateur Championship.
Palmer became a professional player in 1954. He won the Canadian Open in 1955 and then won his first Masters tournament in 1958. Palmer won the 1960 US Open and was named PGA Player of the Year. In 1963, he won the Ryder Cup while serving as the captain of the US team. His last Grand Slam title was the Masters in Augusta, Georgia in 1964. Palmer was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974. Other achievements and awards include the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award (1998), Presidential Medal of Freedom (2004) and Congressional Gold Medal (2009).
