Arike Ogunbowale is an American professional basketball player. She is 5 feet 8 inches tall and is the WNBA Dallas Wings point guard. Ogunbowale led the University of Notre Dame to the 2018 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship. She has appeared on the covers of TV shows such as Sports Illustrated and the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Ogunbowale continues her basketball journey at the University of Notre Dame. As a freshman (2015-16 season), she participated in all 35 games, averaging 11.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. She became the starting guard for the sophomore (2016-17) Notre Dame de Paris and the Irish team. The team ended the season with a 33-4 record. Her efficiency has also improved to 15.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. Ogunbowale led the team to the 2018 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship. After hitting the buzzer consecutively, she was named the tournament MVP. In addition to college basketball, Ogunbowale has also participated in competitions as a member of the US national team and the world championship team. She won gold medals as a member of U16, U17, U18 and Youth Olympic Games. She helped the national team win the U23 Four Nations Championship. Ogunbowale was selected by the Dallas Wings with the 5th overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft.
