Born in Quitman, Mississippi, in 1974, Antonio McDyess played college basketball at the University of Alabama after a prolific high school career. The Los Angeles Clippers selected McDyess with the second overall pick in the 1995 NBA draft.
That same year, he made his rookie debut after being traded to the Denver Nuggets, earning a spot on the All-Rookie first team. McDyess played several times during his career, including with the Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons and San Antonio Spurs. During his time with the Nuggets in 2001, McDyess was named to the NBA All-Star team. He made several playoff appearances, including one in the 2005 Finals against the Pistons.
