Anton Viktorovich Yelchin is an American actor who played “Pavel Chekov” in three Star Trek films. Born on March 11, 1989 in St. Petersburg, Russia. His parents, Irina and Victor, were both competitive figure skaters. His uncle “Eugene” was a children’s book author. Yelchin and his parents immigrated to the United States in 1989. He studied at the Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies and later at the University of Southern California.

Yeltsin made his debut in the 2000 independent film “Man is Mostly Water.” The following year, he played “Milo” in Nick Castle’s film “Giving Milo.” Other early films include 15 Minutes (2001) with Robert De Niro, Spider-Man (2001) with Morgan Freeman and Alpha Dog (2006) with Emile Hirsch. In 2002, he won the Young Artist Award for his performance in the thriller Heart of Atlantis. Yeltsin played “Bird Hefstott” in the comedy series “Huff.” The show ran for two seasons on Showtime from 2004 to 2006.
Yeltsin played “Pavel Chekov” in “Star Trek” (2009). The cast won the Boston Film Critics Society Award for Best Ensemble. Pavel Chekov’s role was repeated in Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) and Star Trek Beyond (2016). Yelchin starred in the sci-fi film Terminator Salvation (2009) alongside Christian Bale and Sam Worthington. Other films include Like Crazy (2011) with Felicity Jones, Fright Night (2011) with Colin Farrell, and Only Lovers Left Alive (2013) with Tilda Swinton. He voiced the clumsy Smurfs in the 2011 and 2013 films.
