Anthony Joshua is a British professional boxer and current IBF heavyweight champion. He has an impressive 22-win record, including 21 eliminations. Joshua was born on October 15, 1989 in Waterford, England, to Nigerian parents. He has three siblings, Janet, Loretta and Jacob. Joshua spent his childhood in Nigeria. After returning to England, he joined Kings Langley Secondary School. He is competitive in sports such as football and track and field. Before boxing, he briefly worked in construction.

Joshua started his amateur boxing career at the age of 18. He joined the Finchley ABC club in Barnett, North London, and won his first Haringey Box Cup in 2009. He played in the Senior ABA Championship in 2010. He was offered a $70,000 bonus to switch majors in 2010, but he declined. Joshua won the British Amateur Boxing Championship in 2010 and was named Amateur Boxer of the Year by the Boxing Writers Club in 2011. He won a silver medal at the 2011 World Championships and a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Joshua became a professional boxer in the summer of 2013. His first match was on 5 October 2013 against Emanuele Leo of Italy. He won by technical knockout in the first round. In 2014, Joshua improved his record to 9-0 by defeating Denis Bakhtov of Russia in the WBC International Heavyweight Championship. He won the Commonwealth Heavyweight Championship in September 2015 and the British Heavyweight Championship three months later. Joshua defeated Wladimir Klitschko in April 2017 to defend his IBF heavyweight title. His latest victory was a seventh-round knockout victory over Alexander Povetkin in September 2018. Joshua’s professional boxing record is 22-0.
