Angus Scrimm is an American actor and writer known for playing the fictional character “tall man” in Phantasm movies. He was born on August 19, 1926 in Kansas City, Kansas, under the original name of Lawrence Rory Guy. He was 6 feet 4 inches tall at his peak. He moved to California as a teenager and studied film at the University of Southern California.

Scrimm debuted on the big screen in the 1976 drama “Jim the World’s Greatest” directed by Don Coscarelli. Beginning in 1979, he continued to play his most memorable role “Tall Man” in the Phantom series of films. His other movies include “The Lost Empire (1984)”, “Subspecies (1991)”, “Reaper (1993)”, “I Sell the Dead (2008)” and “John Die in the End (2012)”.
Scrimm is a Grammy Award-winning author, known for his albums lined with notes. Before settling down at Capitol Records, he began to work as a reporter and editor for TV guides and movie magazines. He has written a lot of LP and CD lining notes for big names such as Frank Sinatra and The Beatles.
