early life
Andy Samberg (Andy Samberg) was born on August 18, 1978 in Berkeley, California, his real name is David AJ Samberg (David AJ Samberg). At the age of five, he told his parents that he wanted to change his name to Andy. He is Jewish, but thinks he has no religious beliefs. His mother Marjorie is an elementary school teacher, and his father Joe is a photographer. He has two sisters. He went to elementary school with Chelsea Peretti, who later became his co-star in “Brooklyn Nine Nine”.
As a child, he discovered “Saturday Night Live” and became obsessed and passionate about comedy. Samberg attended Willard Junior High in Berkeley, where he met future Lonely Island collaborators Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone. After graduating from Berkeley High School in 1996, Samberg studied at Santa Cruz University for two years and then transferred to the Tisch School of Art at New York University to major in experimental film.
Isolated island
Andy’s career began in 2001, when he and his roommate formed a three-person comedy troupe called “Lonely Island.” The three moved to Los Angeles with the goal of becoming film producers, but it was difficult to find a job. They named the group after the nickname they gave to the apartment. They soon started making short comedies for their website, and their digital short films such as “White Power”, “About Andy” and “Awesometown” made them notorious.
The popularity of these videos eventually led to the writing of the 2005 MTV Film Awards, and this performance finally allowed them to find a job on Saturday Night Live. During SNL, they released their first studio album “Incredibad” in February 2009. In the early 2010s, Schaffer, Taccone, and Samberg retired from SNL, but occasionally made guest appearances. They continue to release more albums: “Turtleneck and Chain” in 2011, “Weird Album” in 2013, the soundtrack of “Pop Star: Never Ending” in 2016, and “Unauthorized Bash” in 2019 “Brother Experience”, this is a Netflix special program promoted as a “visual poem”, appearing with the new rap album of the same name.

Saturday night live and beyond
Jimmy Fallon hosted the MTV Movie Awards the year he worked for the writing team in Lonely Island, and he recommended them to the creator of Saturday Night Live, Lorne Michaels. All three members were hired for writing positions, and Samberg also found a job as a guest actor. Their first episode aired on October 1, 2005. The three recorded their own songs and sketches, and then submitted them to the sales team, bypassing the process of verbally promoting the skit. Although Samberg did not appear in many live sketches in his first year, he appeared in commercial imitations and other pre-recorded sketches. Three of the numerous viral videos produced by the trio for SNL include “Lazy Sunday”, a hip-hop song about seeking to watch the movie “The Chronicles of Narnia”, “Dick in the Box”, and Justin Timberlake’s The duet and “I’m on a Boat”, in collaboration with T-Pain, quickly gained 56 million views on YouTube after its release. Samberg left SNL in 2012 to play Dale Ashbrick in three BCC comedy shows “Cuckoo”.
The following year, Samberg played the leading role of Jack Peralta in the Fox (later NBC) comedy “Brooklyn Nine Nine”, which he also produced. Samberg starred in the 2015 Sleater-Kinney “No Cities to Love” video with Fred Armisen, Norman Reedus and Ellen Page. He is also well-known for his hosting duties, including the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 20, 2015, and the 76th Golden Age Awards co-hosted with Sandra Oh on January 6, 2019.
