Andrew Ridgeley, formerly named Andrew John Ridgeley, was born on January 26, 1963 in Windlesham, Surrey, England. His mother Jennifer has Scottish descent and his father Alberto has Italian/Egyptian descent. Alberto’s surname was originally Zacharia, but he changed to Ridgeley. Jennifer teaches at Bushheath Elementary School, and Alberto works for Canon. Andrew’s brother Paul is a drummer and has toured with Bananarama. Richley attended Buschmeads School in Busch, Hertfordshire, and George Michael was one of his classmates. When George was in school, Richley placed Michael under his protection, and the two played in several bands together before forming Wham, including The Executive! In 1981.

Andrew started a relationship with Bananarama member Keren Woodward in 1990. They lived with her son Thomas in a 15th century converted barn in Wadebridge, Cornwall, until they broke up in 2017.
