Andrew Probert received formal higher education at Art Center College in Pasadena, California. Thanks to a recommendation from Ralph McQuarrie, Probert landed his first job on the TV miniseries Battle Star Galactica. There he contributed significantly to the design of the Cyclone Centurion and the construction of some spaceship models. A year later, in 1978, he was hired as an illustrator/designer for the film Star Trek. He is responsible for the concept creation and design of human and Vulcan space technology. In 1983, he made a comeback on television with a pilot for a new series called “Airwolf.” The following year, he went on to work on Spielberg’s classic “Back to the Future,” starting with only storyboarding. Eventually, he was asked to design a cult time machine. Next, he was invited to join the crew of the new Star Trek series. There, he first worked on the bridge of the new spacecraft. Upon completion, he was asked to design the entire interior of the starship. In addition to this, he has worked on Genesis, Space Camp, Batteries Not Included, The Philadelphia Experiment, and The Mask. In addition to working in film and television, he was hired as a design consultant for the Star Trek multiplayer online game.
