Al Leiter was born in Toms River, New Jersey in 1965 and made his MLB debut on September 15, 1987 with the New York Yankees. He played with the Yankees until the 1989 trade sent him to the Toronto Blue Jays.
Wright played for the Blue Jays until 1995, when he was a member of the Florida Marlins from 1996 to 1997. He later played for the New York Mets (1998-2004), a second time with the Florida Marlins (2005), and finally returned to the Bronx to end his career with the New York Yankees in 2005 career. The left-handed starting pitcher posted a career win-loss record of 162-132 to complement a 3.80 scoring average and 1,974 strikeouts.
