A first-generation self-made entrepreneur, Alexander Putilov is now the co-owner of Eurasian Drilling, a Russian onshore drilling services provider. Before officially starting his career, Putilov received his bachelor’s degree at Tyumen Institute of Technology, where he also majored in oil and gas field machinery and equipment.
After graduation, he first worked as a repairman, and after a while, he became the deputy director of a factory. Next, he climbed the corporate ladder to oversee production as chief mechanic. At a higher stage in his career, Putilov was deputy director of drilling operations in Surgut and led the management of drilling operations in Krasno-Leninsk and Uray. He also served as President of the state-owned oil company Rosneft, and from 1993 to 1998 he went on to be appointed as BP/Amoco’s special representative to oil company Sidanko. In 2004 he joined Alexander Dzaparidze to form a drilling company now called Eurasia Drilling. Ultimately, Mr Putilov became Eurasia Drilling’s largest shareholder after a 22% stake in Dzaparidze was abruptly sold.
