Alec Baldwin is an American actor, comedian, producer and animal rights activist. He is known for films such as Beetlejuice, The Shadow, and the sitcom 30 Rock. Baldwin was born Alexander Ray Baldwin III on April 3, 1958, in Amityville, New York. His mother, Carroll, was a breast cancer activist, and his late father, Alexander Jr., was a history teacher. He has five siblings, Daniel, William, Stephen, Elizabeth and Jane. Baldwin grew up in Massapequa, where he attended Alfred G. Berner High School. He studied political science at George Washington University before transferring to NYU. He graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in Drama.

Baldwin started out as a television actor before moving on to theatre and film. His first television role was “Billy Allison Aldridge” on the NBC soap opera “The Doctor” (1980-82). He then played “Joshua Rush” repeatedly in the Knots Landing (1984-86) series. Baldwin’s Broadway debut was a revival of Joe Orton’s play “Loot” in 1986. In 1991, he won an Obie Award for his role in the off-Broadway production of The Kissing Prelude. His stage credits include Serious Money, A Streetcar Named Desire, Macbeth and Twentieth Century.
Baldwin made his big-screen debut in the 1987 comedy-suspense film Forever, Lulu. He then starred in Tim Burton’s 1988 film Beetle Juice. Baldwin co-starred in “Jack Ryan” in the 1990 thriller “The Hunt for Red October.” Other notable films include Prelude to The Kiss (1992) with Meg Ryan, The Aviator (2004) with Leonardo DiCaprio, and Infernal Affairs with Matt Damon (2006). Recent films include Blue Jasmine (2013) with Cate Blanchett, Concussion (2015) with Will Smith, and the upcoming film Rules Don’t Apply (2016) with Warren Beatty.
From 1990 to 2011, Baldwin made several appearances on Saturday Night Live. He impersonated Republican candidate Donald Trump in SNL’s coverage of the 2016 presidential election. Baldwin played “Jack Donaghy” on the NBC sitcom “Rock 30” (2006-13). He won 3 Golden Globes, 2 Primetime Emmys and 7 Screen Actors Guild Awards for this role. In 2005, he starred in nine episodes of Will & Grace. He also voiced Thomas & Friends (1998-2003) and Clerks: The Animated Series (2000-01).
