Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Alan McGee began his career as a musician in the late 70’s. He went on to perform with punk rock band The Drains before co-founding the band Laughing Apple.
Laughing Apple released three singles. 1983 proved to be a busy year when he formed Biff Bang Pow and launched his own label, Creation Records. Biff Bang Pow recorded and performed until 1991. Creation Records would go on to become one of the most successful independent record labels of all time. He has signed works such as Primal Scream, Felt, The Weather Profits, My Bloody Valentine, Teenage Fanclub and most successful Oasis. He also manages the Jesus and Mary chain. The label sold 54 million records before closing in 1999 and sold to Sony for $30,000,000. In 2000, he started another brand, Poptones, and ran the nightclub for a few years. However, since 2007 he has mainly focused on real estate investing and music blogging.
