Alan Colmes is an American radio host, liberal pundit, author and television personality. He is best known for hosting “The Alan Colmes Show” on Fox News Radio and “Hannity and Colmes” on Fox News Channel. Colmes was born on September 24, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York. He is Jewish and his grandparents are from Ukraine. Colmes attended Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. He graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies.

Colmes worked briefly at the radio station ‘WRHU’ while studying at Hofstra. He started his broadcasting career in 1979, and by 1982 he was hired by the WABC in New York. Colmes worked at WNBC from 1987 to 1988. His radio talk show has been syndicated nationwide since 1990. He also works with radio stations in Connecticut and Boston.
Colmes has been with Fox News since 1996. He co-hosts the political show “Hannity & Colmes” with Sean Hannity. The debate-driven talk show ran on Fox News from October 1996 to January 2009. Colmes interviewed a number of political figures, including Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Jesse Jackson. From 2003 to 2017, he hosted the nationally syndicated show “The Alan Colmes Show.” He has also contributed to The O’Reilly Factor, Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld and Fox News Watch.
Colmes’ collection of political essays, Red, White, and Liberalism: Left or Right or Right or Wrong, was published by Harper Collins in 2003. The second publication, Thanks to the Liberal Party for Saving America, was published by Hay House in 2012.
