Ajpilramal Net Worth: Ajay Piramal is an Indian entrepreneur with a net worth of $1.8 billion. He started his career with his family’s textile business, which he later turned into a $2 billion empire. Piramal holds a BA and MBA from the University of Mumbai and is currently Chairman of the Piramal Group, a diversified company with operations in approximately 100 countries.
In 1988, he acquired an Australian multinational, Nicholas Laboratories, one of the top ten pharmaceutical companies now with a range of overseas assets, including the Indian subsidiary of Rhone Poulens, the Hoechst Research Centre, Roche and ICI. In 2010, Piramel received a lot of cash when it sold most of Piramal Healthcare’s domestic operations to Abbott Labs for $3.8 million. He has since rebuilt his fortune into a diversified company involved in finance, real estate, packaging, glass making and pharmaceuticals. Also, India’s first mega mall called Crossroads was built by three Piramal factories. Paramel was also one of the first to build organized workspaces in Lower Parel and to build landmarks like Ashok Towers. In addition, he chairs the largest NGO, Pratham, which is interested in education.
