Adam West is an American actor. He is best known for playing the role of Batman as a superhero in TV series in the 1960s. His film works include Geronimo (1962) and Robinson Crusoe on Mars (1964). He also dubbed animation programs such as “The Family Guy”, “The Simpsons” and “Quite Strange Parents”. West was born in Walla Walla, Washington, on September 19, 1928. His original name was William West Anderson. His father Otto Anderson was a farmer, and his mother Audrey Speer was an opera actor. He has an older brother named John. West attended Walla Walla High School, followed by Whitman College. Graduated in 1951 with a bachelor of arts degree. During college, he also actively participated in swimming, water polo and track and field sports.

West moved to Hawaii in the mid-1950s to work for the children’s show El Kini Popo Show. His work caught the attention of a Hollywood producer who helped him sign a contract with Warner Bros. Studios. He eventually moved to Hollywood and adopted the stage name Adam West. West’s film debut was the play “The Young Phillies” (1959) starring Paul Newman. He played “Lieutenant John Delahay” in the western film “Geronimo” (1962), as opposed to Chuck Connors. Other films include “Robinson Crusoe on Mars” (1964) with Paul Mandy, “The Girl Who Knows Too Much” (1969) with Guan Nanqian, and “Destiny” with three heads. The Adversary is Coming” (1965).
West played the role of “Sergeant Steve Nelson” in the popular crime drama series “Detective”, starring Robert Taylor. He played “Bruce Wayne/Batman” in the Batman live-action series. The show was broadcast on ABC for 3 seasons from January 1966 to March 1968. His partner “Dick Grayson/Robin” is played by actor Bert Ward. West played a supporting role in the protagonist “Ken Schwinger” in the children’s series “The Adventures of Pete and Pete” (1993-96). His TV works also include “The Big Bang Theory”, “The Queen of the Kings”, “30 Rock” and “Spoof House”.
