Aaron Judge is an American professional baseball player. At 6-foot-7, he was the right outfielder for the New York Yankees. He made his Major League Baseball debut with the Yankees in 2016. Judge was born on April 26, 1992 in Lyndon, California. He was adopted and raised by educators Patty and Judge Wayne. His adopted brother, John, is an English teacher in South Korea. Judge attended Lyndon High School, where he was competitive in baseball, football and basketball. In baseball, he played first base and pitched. He also led the team to the CIF Division III playoffs. Judge continued his baseball career and education at California State University in Fresno.

Judge was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 2010 MLB draft, but chose to attend Cal State in Fresno. He played three seasons for the Fresno State Bulldogs from 2011 to 2013. He received the All-American Freshman honor in his first year. As a junior, Judge led the Bulldogs in home runs, doubles and RBIs. He was selected to the Western All Mountain Team for three consecutive seasons. Judge was selected by the New York Yankees with the 32nd overall pick in the 2013 MLB draft. He signed a rookie contract, but a leg injury kept him from playing a single game in the 2013 season. The following year, he made his professional debut with the Charleston River Dogs in the South Atlantic Division One. Judge was promoted to the Tampa Yankees of the Class A Senior Florida League, then to the Trenton Thunder in the Class AA Eastern Conference, and later to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railroad of the Class AAA International League Riders. He represented the Yankees in the 2015 All-Star Futures game and was named to the 2016 League of Nations All-Star team.
Judge made his Major League Baseball debut on August 13, 2016, during the Yankees’ game against the Tampa Bay Rays. He hit home runs in his first two MLB games. He is the first player in Yankees history to accomplish this feat since Joe Lefebvre in 1980. Judge was named the starting outfielder for the 2017 All-Star Game. He broke the Yankees’ home run record with 30 rookies. The record was previously held by Joe DiMaggio with 29. Judge won the American League Rookie of the Month award three times between April and June 2017. He was called Miguel Sano in the 2017 home run derby win over the Minnesota Twins. He was the first rookie ever to win a championship straight away. Judge is also the first player in MLB history to hit 40 home runs and over 75 walks in 140 games.
