Shook has performed at the Cleveland Theater, Center Stage in Baltimore, and the American Academy of Music Theater. He first appeared in the TV series Gunsmoke from 1969 to 1970, and in the 1970 film MASH.

From 1971 to 1977, he played Charles Enright on the TV series “McMillan & Wife.” From 1976 to 1977 he played Gregory “Yoyo” Yoyonovich on the TV series Holmes and Yo-Yo. In 1979, Shook played Sam Alston on the episode Turnabout. He played Murray in the “Fantastic Couple” series from 1982 to 1983. Shook played Herman Munster in the TV series “Munster Today” from 1988 to 1991.
