Adam Levine is an American singer, songwriter, actor, and frontman for Maroon 5. He has won multiple Grammys and is known for hits like “This Love,” “Harder to Breathe,” and “Moves Like Jagger.” Levine was born to parents Fred and Passy on March 18, 1979, in Los Angeles, California. He has four siblings, Lisa, Julia, Michael and Sam. Levine attended Brentwood School in Los Angeles, where he met some of his future bandmates. He also briefly studied at Five Towns College in New York.

Levine formed his first band, Kara’s Flowers, in 1995 with Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick. They were signed to Reprise Records, and their debut album, The Fourth World, was released in August 1997. The album did not perform well, so the band disbanded. Levine was reunited with his old Carla’s Flower members in 2000. They added a fifth body “James Valentine” and renamed the group Maroon 5. Their debut studio album, Songs About Jane, was released in June 2002. The album peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 in 2008 and featured the singles “Harder to Breathe”, “This Love” and “She Will Be Loved”. It’s certified 5x Platinum in the U.S. and won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
Maroon 5 won a Grammy for Best Pop Performance again in 2005 and 2007. Their follow-up albums include It Won’t Be Soon Before Long (2007), Hands All Over (2010) and Overexposed (2012). The album “V” was released at number one on the Billboard 200 in 2014 and included the singles “Maps”, “Animals” and “Sugar”. Levine has worked with several other artists, including Kanye West, Alicia Keys and Natasha Bedingfield. He collaborated with rapper Wiz Khalifa on the 2012 hit “Payphone”.
In addition to music, Levine has appeared in many movies and TV shows. From 2004 to 2014, he made several appearances as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live. He appeared in 2009’s 30 Rock, followed by five episodes of American Horror Story: Asylum in 2012. Levine became the coach of the NBC singing competition, The Voice, 2011. He had a major role in the film “Start Over” (2013) with Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo. Other film appearances include Pitch Perfect 2 (2015) and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016).
