Exposition ends, explained: Are Sofia and Eve dead or alive?

Feria: The Darkest Light follows two young sisters whose lives are turned upside down, whose parents are blamed for the ritual killing of 23 people. Set in the small town of Feria, the Spanish paranormal thriller series follows Sofia and Eva on their surreal journey as they try to uncover the secrets behind their parents’ disappearance and alleged crime.

However, the deeper they dig, the less real things become. By the end, the younger, more impressionable Sophia seems firmly occupied by some form of black magic. Even skeptical detective Gillen faces some realities that he can’t believe but is forced to accept. The truly ominous suspense season finale has everyone’s fate hanging in the balance, so we decided to take a closer look to see if we could find some hidden details. Let’s dive into the ending of “Faria: The Darkest Light”. Spoilers ahead.

Feria: The Darkest Light Review

The series opens with Eva and Sophia heading to a local midsummer party, the latter briefly unconscious while diving in a lake. The sisters are surprised to find their parents missing the next morning, and police quickly inform Elena and Pablo (Eva and Sofia’s parents) that they are wanted for multiple murders. We were then taken to the ominous place outside the local mine, where 23 naked bodies lay in the open air. It soon becomes clear that they were killed while performing a dark ritual led by Elena.

As the two young girls grapple with shock and grief, the rest of the town turns to them, demanding answers for their parents’ actions. Eva tries to put on a calm look for outsiders, but then begins to hallucinate during a TV interview that ends in disaster. Meanwhile, Sophia is approached by a mysterious old man who promises to reunite her with her mother.

Desperately missing Elena, Sophia is finally with the man and gradually agrees to participate in the dark ritual he performs on her. The old man named Samuel was assisted by a woman named Blanca and a refugee named Khalid. They all claim to wait for the coming of the kingdom, which will free them from the endless cycle of birth and death.

Pablo is eventually caught by the police and reveals to his daughter and the skeptical Lieutenant Gillen that Elena is trying to save everyone by closing the gates of the kingdom. Guillén is angry, but Sofia realizes that she may have made a mistake in mixing with Samuel and the cult. However, it was too late, the young girl was possessed by an otherworldly little creature called Decta. In a surreal moment, Sophia sliced the ominous entity out of her stomach with a knife. Deca then climbed to the center of the small town of Feria and turned into a black sludge that was slowly absorbed into the houses and some of the inhabitants.

Feria: The Darkest Light Ending: Is Sophia Dead or Alive? Why did she lift the fifth veil?

The season finale opens with the town of Feria, which is in the dark and ominous clutches of a demonic entity named Dekta. The entity’s power was concentrated on a local doctor named Belda, who then set out to find Sophia in an attempt to get her to complete the ritual (known as the lifting of the fifth veil). Kidnapped from the hospital, the young girl is recovering from her recent injuries and taken to the mine, which contains the “shrine” used to bring Dekta and other demonic entities out.

Meanwhile, Guillén confronts Blanca, who soon falls into the throes of a seizure and regurgitates Dekta’s small, creature-like form. Police were shocked to see the otherworldly entity and opened fire on it, killing it. In the temple, Sophia and Belda encountered a demonic entity named Uma, who killed Belda and opened a door. Realizing that there is no choice but to use herself as the key to the door, Sophia says the same to the door, thus opening the fifth veil. A large demonic entity then emerged from the dark doorway. At the end of the season, Sophia looked up at the creature in horror and let out an eerie scream.

So the season ended on a domineering omen, with Sofia doing the unthinkable. Despite her parents’ best efforts and Pablo’s explicit warning, the young girl decides to complete the dark ritual and open the fifth veil, thus opening the door to the demonic dimension known as the “Kingdom”. She ended the season screaming in horror, telling us that Sofia wasn’t doing well, and in fact, neither was the rest of Feria. However, as far as we can tell, Sophia doesn’t appear to be dead (yet), but is likely experiencing a worse fate than that.

If Pablo and Blanca’s kingdom is true, it’s a hell-like demonic dimension that brings “fire, sword, and war.” Once the doors open, Feria is likely to become a hellish haunt of demons. As some residents have seen, the demonic power will spread and infect the rest of the town’s residents, throwing them into an eternal nightmare. As the “perfect being” to open the door, Sofia may have a special meaning in the post-apocalyptic Feria. However, this may not be a good thing, this young girl will suffer as much (or more) than any other girl.

Perhaps the only light is when Sophia can finally see her mother, who was trapped in a hellish dimension after trying to prevent the door from opening many years ago. Wanting to be reunited with Elena is what drove the troubled young protagonist from the start, and despite the incredible circumstances surrounding it, the mother-daughter duo may just be reunited.

This also brings us to some other possible reasons why Sophia decided to open the door and know what was on the other side. On the one hand, Sofia realizes that she will never be able to live peacefully without someone trying to kill her after her friend Mar’s father (Lozano) tries to shoot her so that she can’t open the door. On the other hand, as Pablo rightly points out, the cult will never stop chasing the “keys” that unlock the kingdom. Realizing that she doesn’t want to die, the only option Sophia sees is to open the gates to the kingdom, causing the unthinkable to happen.

Is Eva dead or alive?

Eva goes through her own tumultuous journey and fears for her sister’s well-being. In the final season, when the demonic entity Uma infiltrates the hospital in search of Sophia, her sister Eva experiences a surreal life nightmare. Not knowing that she was hallucinating, Eva imagined meeting her father in the hospital corridor. Pablo then started strangling his daughter without saying a word, completely ignoring her screams of surprise.

Fortunately, Eva finally got rid of the hallucinations and returned to reality. However, she then realised that Sophia had been kidnapped and thought the young girl might have been taken to the temple. So, the last time we see Eva, she’s still alive and on her way to the Temple of the Mine. Like all other residents of Feria, her fate is ominous considering her sister just opened the door.
